More about what we believe

• That every person is created by and loved by God.

It is no accident that you are who you are. You are more than just a consequence of your parents' love. You exist because God, our Father of all, has a will for you. (Jer 1:5)

• That every person has a responsibility over his/her life.

Because God loves all people equally, he has created something in us that shows how we should behave towards each other - our conscience. This means that each person is responsible for the times he or she violates it - and thus hurts and harms other people. (Rom 2:15)

• That every person has failed at some point.

Despite the conscience God put in us, we humans seem to constantly find ourselves in situations where we violate it. There is no adult who has not violated his conscience at some point. That is what the Bible calls sin. (Rom 3:23)

• That every person can be forgiven by God.

By human means it is impossible to undo a mistake. When God saw that, and at the same time remembered his love for us, he decided to do his utmost to repair the damage we caused. God Himself, Jesus, came down to earth and when He dies on the cross, He bears all our failures, our sin. Therefore, we have the opportunity to receive forgiveness and restoration, "Salvation", by believing in Jesus (John 3:16)

• That every person needs to repent.

Forgiveness through Jesus is free, but not cheap. It is conditioned in such a way that we are expected to stop doing what is destructive and start doing good. In water baptism we show this publicly. After making a conscious decision to believe in Jesus, we are baptized. Then we show ourselves and the whole world that we mean business. In order to subsequently teach us to live in love and harmony, God has given us the Bible - a love letter to all of humanity filled with tips, advice and instructions for living a fulfilling life in all respects (Acts 2:37-38, Ephe 4:17-32)

• That every person can be equipped with power.

When God has given us forgiveness and shown us the way with him, he does not leave us there. He wants to walk with us and help us every day. The Holy Spirit, the third person in the unity that constitutes God, is our helper and giver of power. By being filled with the Spirit, in the "Baptism of the Spirit" a person is equipped with the power to live a complete life. Then God also equips us with supernatural gifts, e.g. tongues and gifts to perform miracles or heal the sick. To God, the supernatural is natural. (John 14:15-17 , Acts 1:8;2:1-4, Mark 16:17-18)
